The Council of Trappe cordially invites you to attend the dedication of Nace’s Park
A passive park developed in 2017 as a tribute to one Trappe’s integral citizens, Mr. Nathaniel Hopkins, affectionately known as “Uncle Nace.” He was a freed African-American who resided in Trappe. His most famous contribution was the establishment of the first African-American school on a site near Scott’s United Methodist Church. Mr. Hopkins was a formidable community activist, mentor and historian.
In commemoration of his life and death, a dedication program of the Park is planned for April 29th at 10:00 am at the site. Should the weather be inclement, the dedication will be moved to Scott’s United Methodist Church located at 3748 Main Street Trappe MD.
