Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
October 13, 2004
7:30 pm.
Trappe Town Hall
The regular Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was opened
by Chairperson Edgar Harrison and called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Planning Commission members present were Mr. Don English, Mr.
Don Haring, Mr. Jerry Adams and Mr. Bobby Quidas. Chairperson
Harrison asked for motion to approve the minutes. Motion was
made by Mr. English to approve the minutes as presented.
Motion was seconded by Mr. Haring.

OLD BUSINESS:
Village Overlay Zone:
Chairperson Harrison told the board that there is an extended
area north on Main Street that he felt was not to be in the
Village Overlay Zone. It is not shown on the Comprehensive
Plan and I did not feel that it was our intention to include
this in the Village Overlay. This discussion continued and
Mr. Adams felt that this was discussed by the Board, and he
could see no reason to take it out. Mr. Quidas also felt
that we should leave it the way it was zoned now. Chairperson
Harrison said that we will table for now.
Zoning Definitions:
Mr. Hall presented a draft of the definitions and
interpretations with changes highlighted. There was quite a
lengthy discussion on the changes.
Motion was made by Mr. Adams to send the definitions and
interpretations forward with a recommendation to consult our
attorney on home occupation type II approval authority. Motion
was seconded by Mr. English.
Heritage Area:
Chairperson Harrison said that we need to make a recommendation
on the Heritage Area. Mr. English stated that he was not
comfortable with voting tonight he had too many reservations.
Chairperson Harrison handed out copies for the board members of
his thoughts for review. Mr. Harrison then tabled the
Heritage Area recommendation.
NEW BUSINESS:
Commercial Design Standards - Highway Mixed Use Commercial
Zone:
Mr. Hall said that he had nothing to report on the Highway
Mixed Use. Mr. Hall stated that Mr. Harrison had made some
bullet points that he wanted to talk about tonight. The bullet
points included topics related to highway access and
architectural design.
